GENERAL INFORMATION
Description
A parasitic wasp that can be used for the biological control of cereal leaf beetles
Example pests controlled
Cereal leaf beetle (Oulema melanopus, Oulema gallaeciana)
Example applications
Cereals
Efficacy & activity
-
Appearance and life cycle
A small, <1mm in length, parasitic wasp. Female injects her eggs in to the prey. Larvae hatch and eats the host egg from inside. The adult wasp emerges from the host egg and the adult female searches for suitable host eggs in which to deposit her eggs and so restart the cycle.
