GENERAL INFORMATION
Description
A naturally occuring insect virus having the potential to control damaging moth larvae
Example pests controlled
Tomato moth Tuta absoluta, Phthorimaea operculella
Example applications
Tomatoes; Potatoes; Other solanaceous crops
Efficacy & activity
-
Appearance and life cycle
Upon ingestion by a host arthropod larva, the virus is replicated in host cells. After death occlusion bodies containing infectious virions can persist in the environment.
Availability status
-
Introduction & key dates
2012, first isolated
